Screen Time

Screen time for children is a sensitive subject, as some parents do not allow their children to watch tv/videos whilst they are young.  There are many valid reasons cited for this decision. These include the lack of exercise involved, and taking away from family time. Screens can be addictive and all consuming for the child. Screen time can take away from more traditional tactile toys. It can be seen a glorified babysitter. It can open the doors to inappropriate content, leading to over stimulation, and distraction from learning.  I'll be perfectly honest, I strongly believed all of this when Sophia was born, and I was determined that she would not be introduced to this world when she was a baby.  I wanted her to traditionally play and love books. My experience of children's TV did not impress me. Meeting the Morris family

Welcome to our preschool blog!  We are the Morris family, the majority of whom are neuro divergent. It is truly amazing to watch our three childen grow up and develop as we go through their homeschooling journey together.  Here we are looking at the years of 2015- August 2019. This is when the three children were born and commenced their learning journey.  Life is not simple as we have many long term health complications. Sophia, Xander and I have a rare bonemarrow failure condition. This keeps us very busy visiting various hospitals, with the joys of endless waiting times, numerous departments, and appointments.  During these series of blogs you will see how we juggle homeschooling and hospital. I lived a childhood going between traditional school and hospital myself, thus it is so refreshing to be able to teach them fluidly and consistently within home education.  I know they cannot fall behind, unlike myself, who had to retake the entire school year as a result of long periods of ti
